Research workshop: Early Career Foundation Awards
This seminar provides an overview of early career awards, but will focus on awards offered by private foundations. Get useful information on the ISU Foundation and how they can help you pursue funding. Also, receive general information about other early career awards offered by the federal government. Finally, hear from ISU faculty who have experience pursuing and receiving early career awards, and how those awards shaped their careers.

Friday Research Seminar: The Art of Asking Questions
How do questions influence the thinking process in design? To what extent do (high-level) questions influence problem definition and shape idea generation? What type of question-asking behavior drives the creative thinking process? How does one learn to ask "good" questions? In this talk, Carlos Cardoso, associate professor of industrial design, will discuss the role of question-asking in designing as part of his research in design methodology.

March Craft of the Month: Secret Book Safe
Hollow out a book for a secret place to stash your treasures in plain sight. Start by gluing the edges together, then use a box knife to cut out a rectangular compartment within the pages. Add decorative paper to your interior cutout to tidy up the edges, and keep it under a stack of real books overnight to compress the pages. Drop in during open hours but give yourself about 90 minutes.
