Glass Beads Intensive Workshop
Rhonda Scott Learn to create colorful beads by heating and shaping glass with a torch - yes, we get to work with fire! This fast-paced workshop will be packed with information about safety, equipment, and techniques for creating a variety of beads. Leave class with a stash of beads and the know-how to continue on your own. For very beginners or a great refresher for those who would like to brush up on their skills.
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical
Beautiful-The Carole King Musical tells the story of the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwrite and features a stunning array of beloved songs written by Gerry Goffin/Carole King and Barry Mann/Cynthia Weil. A pre-show dinner will also be available for this performance.

Family Sunday: A Walk Back in Time
Take a family-centered tour through the exhibition "Artists in Iowa: The First Century" and learn about the artists who worked in the state from the 1840s to 1940s. A craft activity based on the art in the exhibition is planned.

Argentine Tango Lessons
Valerie Williams This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with different partners for practice. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Leatherwork Earrings Workshop
Andrew Kingsbury Make 2-3 pairs of leather earrings with Andrew Kingsbury from Decadence Jewelry. Basic techniques will include leather tooling and painting with dye. A variety of stamps will be available for adding dimension to your jewelry.
Silver Flora Pendant Class
Rhonda Scott Students will "paint" fine silver paste on real natural elements such as leaves and seed pods in the first class. Pieces will be fired in a kiln before the last class, which will burn away nature and leave a beautiful representation in silver. Students will then sand, polish and finish their one-of-a-kind pendants.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Dia de los Muertos Sugar Skulls
Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday for celebrating those who have passed. Drawings of Sugar Skulls often include flowers, dots, linear patterns, and other fun elements that can transfer beautifully onto pottery. We will have pattern ideas as well as bisque with pre-printed designs for coloring in. Pick yours up in time for Dia de los Muertos October 31-November 2.

"Bells of Iowa State" gala anniversary concert, celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Stanton Memorial Carillon, the 65th anniversary of the Stanton Memorial Carillon Foundation, and the 50th birthday of Stephens Auditorium. The campanile-carillon model will be unveiled and dedicated.

Reception: ReACT exhibition opening
Consider ideas of intergenerational relationships and family in the newest ReACT exhibition, "Connections and Intersections: People, Place and Time," focused on the stages of life and aging. Jennifer Margrett, faculty guest curator and director of the ISU gerontology program, worked with a multi-age panel to select the art and offer initial reactions. Margrett will deliver brief remarks.

Field trips are fun, especially when your destination is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue! In this charming musical, Dee, José and Annie accidentally knock George Washington out of his portrait and into real life -- turning their White House tour into a mad-cap and fun-filled adventure. As they encounter Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln, Dolley Madison, and other famous White House residents, together they all learn what is the true portrait of America.
