"Navigating Your Research with Human Subjects: The IRB Submission Process." In this session, you will learn tips on developing and submitting protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). An IRB staff member will walk through key sections of the non-exempt IRB application and explain what the IRB looks for during the review process. Johanna Hurme and Sasa Radulovic, founders of Winnipeg-based design firm 5468796 Architecture, will talk about the conditions and ambition required to change the Midwest status quo in architecture and share examples from their firm's projects.

Join Nathan Brockman, Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing Curator, for a special black light butterfly show. Learn the science behind the way many butterfly patterns fluoresce when exposed to UV light, and view them in a new way as they clump together and begin roosting for the night.

Mary Jones, professor of art and design at Grandview University, Des Moines, is a mixed-media artist, illustrator and printmaker who explores the creative potential of physically engaging with one's environment. She will discuss how walking well-trodden paths is like remembering in layers, and how this process of remembering is similar to the layers in her prints.
