First Amendment Days: Free expression through artmaking
Explore the meaning of belonging through art in a session led by Ally Karsyn, founder, producer and host of Ode, a live storytelling series where community members tell true stories on stage to promote positive impact through empathy. Events are recorded for broadcast on NPR affiliate Siouxland Public Media, Sioux City, Iowa, where she is the arts producer and afternoon announcer. Planned as part of the First Amendment Days celebration.

Ribbon cutting: Forker Building
Celebrate the completion of $7.4 million in renovations to the Forker Building, including new labs, offices and student spaces. Remarks will be given at 3 p.m. inside the building's west entrance by Department of Kinesiology Chair Philip Martin, College of Human Sciences Dean Laura Dunn Jolly, and President Wendy Wintersteen.
Retirement reception: Clark Ford
Clark Ford, associate professor of food science and human nutrition, is retiring. A program will begin at 4 p.m.

The Fashion Show
The Fashion Show 2017 is in its 36th year, and is one of the largest student-run fashion shows in the nation. The show features student-designed garments both on the runway and in mounted exhibitions. This year's theme is "Resilience," with guest designers from the Patagonia company.

Conference: Geological Society of America
The GSA North-Central Section's 52nd annual meeting will discuss hot topics in geoscience; new research findings on glacier flow and agricultural water quality. Emerging contaminants in the environment will be presented and Iowa's unique geologic and hydrologic features will be explored.
Rossmann Manatt Lecture
"Impact of egg consumption on hyperhomocysteinemia, an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease," Kevin Schalinske, professor of food science and human nutrition and winner of the Rossmann Manatt Faculty Development Award.
Lecture: Ethical Difficulty
"Why We Get Into Ethical Difficulty and How to Stop Ourselves," Marianne Jennings, professor of legal and ethical studies in the Department of Management at Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business and one of the country's leading experts on business ethics.
Lecture: Into Purer Light
Internationally renowned figurative painter and illustrator Jeremy Caniglia, an ISU College of Design graduate, will speak about his experiences working with the figurative master Odd Nerdrum at the Nerdrum School in Norway, his new solo exhibition and the future of figurative painting.
