Day of Insects
Reiman Gardens is so enthusiastic about insects that we set aside a special day just for them every year. Our annual Day of Insects brings together professionals, academics, advocates and enthusiasts of all levels from across the country to explore and celebrate entomology (the study of insects).

Fundraiser: Chess to Impress with David Jiles
Co-hosted by the ISU Chess Club, this event is a fundraiser for Students Helping Our Peers (SHOP), the on-campus, student-run food pantry. Jiles, Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering, will play against multiple opponents (as many as 12 contests simultaneously).

Using tents, sleeping bags and cardboard box structures, more than 1,000 campers are expected to sleep out on the football field to raise funds and awareness to end youth homelessness.

Join University Museums Assistant Curator, Adrienne Gennett, as she explores how glass beads came to be so significant and influential, using examples from University Museums permanent collection.

ISU ADVANCE workshop
"Effective Teams: Navigating Both Gender and Cultural Diversity" will be led by sociologist and author Kathrin Zippel, Northeastern University, Boston. This workshop will be repeated at 1:15 p.m. today. Registration is requested by March 23.
Art + Issues: Building a Campus Community
The University Museums exist to celebrate the diversity of our cultural heritage and through art teach critical thinking and generate dialogue that helps to build an inclusive campus community. As a practicing artist and educator, Leonardson is interested in the promise of technology to enable new connections between physical action, sensory perception and ideas.

Lecture: White Bread, Wheat Breeding and the Beauty of Place
Steve Jones is in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and Director of the Bread Lab at Washington State University. His research is directed towards improving wheat varieties (and other crops) for traditional and organic systems that incorporate diverse rotations and systems for small and midsized farms. Farmer participation and expertise is utilized and encouraged in research planning and decision making.
