FIRST LEGO League State Championships
The robotics rounds take place in the lower level of Howe Hall. Iowa FIRST® LEGO® League Championships, a STEM event that showcases some of Iowa's most creative kids, is free and open to the public.
Walk-in Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5-7pm, the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.

Service project: Crowd-sourced mapping
The geographic information systems (GIS) facility is holding a Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event. Volunteers will help create crowd-sourced maps of the world to help with disaster relief efforts. No experience required. Lunch is provided. Register by Jan. 13 at the email address above with your name, computer needs and pizza preference.

Open house: Geoffroy Hall
Take a tour of the newest campus residence hall. Brief remarks and a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held from 9-9:30 a.m. Speakers include residence director Pete Englin, President Steven Leath, President Emeritus Gregory Geoffroy and student representatives.
Workshop: Sustaining Academic Pipeline
Workshop Three: "Tools for Faculty of Color to Continue Their Trajectory to Professor." Speakers at the event will include: Wilson Rumbeiha, professor in veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine; and Eulanda Sanders, Donna R. Danielson Professor in Textiles and Clothing, Apparel Events and Hospitality Management. All are welcome to attend this five-part workshop series.
Training: Youth program leaders and administrators
The offices of Risk Management, Extension and Outreach, and Conference Planning and Management will provide youth program leaders, administrators and student organization officers with information regarding youth-related policies, procedures and forms for successfully conducting youth programs at ISU.

Youth Program: Caterpillar Club
Join us weekly this winter for our popular Early Childhood Development program featuring stories and creative activities around a nature-based theme. Materials are intended for children ages two to seven years old, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Study Abroad Fair
A one-stop shop to learn about adventure abroad -- interning, studying and volunteering opportunities, ranging from one week to one year. Students can enter to win study abroad scholarships.
Bookmobile: Ames Public Library
In partnership with the university library, the Ames Public Library's Bookmobile added a regular Iowa State stop to its weekly route. The Bookmobile will park in the turnaround driveway between Parks Library and Morrill Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays. Items from the Ames Public Library (for all ages) can be checked out, returned or reserved in advance for pick up.

Preparing for the Next Step
This workshop provides an overview of the advancement process for lecturers, clinicians and adjunct faculty, and best practices for putting together a portfolio. It will be led by associate provost for faculty Dawn Bratsch-Prince and include a faculty panel.
