Craft of the Month: Canvas Quotes
Use vinyl letters to spell out a short quote on one of our retro paintings, or on a canvas you prepare. Add another coat of paint and then peel the lettering off to reveal a peek-through of the original imagery. It's fun, easy, and everyone ends up with a unique piece of artwork.
Photography Workshop
Perfecting the art of composition and lighting to create a beautiful still life image is no easy task. Learn some ideas, tricks and even some hacks for creating your own reflection boards, light boxes, and more. Bring in your digital SLR camera and an object that you would like to photograph at a detail level. Must have basic knowledge of their camera and how to use the settings to take this class.

Jane Gilmor is a storyteller and her distinctive intermedia art installations or performances are how she tells her stories. She began her art career as a student at Iowa State and has gone on to have a significant impact on the arts of Iowa and nationally.

Argentine Tango
This Milonga is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better. From 5-7pm the dance floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie and working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time. Wear dancing shoes, smooth-soled shoes, or socks.

Seasonal Glass Candle Holder Class
A great introduction to the basics of fused glass and stained glass. First, students will create a winter-themed glass tile that will be fused in the kiln in time for the second class. Practice cutting stained glass and soldering, and you'll be able to construct a glass candle holder incorporating your fused tile.

Live Music: Lazer Lloyd
Blues / rock artist Lazer Lloyd was born in New York and raised in Madison, Connecticut by a musicloving, guitar playing father with an extensive record collection of blues, folk, rock, and jazz. Lloyd's upbringing would lead to a style that incorporated all of these influences into his emotive blues. He was playing lead guitar along the East Coast with his band Legacy by age 15.

Live Music: David Ryan Harris with Tyler Lyle
Singer/songwriter David Ryan Harris has been challenging mainstream notions of black performers since fronting the Atlanta-based rock group Follow for Now in the late '80s. Once tabbed as the next Living Colour, the band actually drew from an even wider stylistic palette -- everything from Stevie Wonder-style soul to Bad Brains thrash to bluebeat bounce -- but didn't enjoy similar success and broke up after releasing one eponymous album in 1991.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Snack Bowls
"Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing activity that can be done solo or with a group of friends. For popcorn, cereal, candy or any late night snack. We have tons of sizes to choose from. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

Stevie Starr is a Scottish performance artist and regurgitator. In his act, he swallows and regurgitates goldfish, billiard balls, lightbulbs, coins, and nails to name a few. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late night with Jimmy Fallon, and most recently America's Got Talent 2015.

Lecture and reception: Simon Estes
International opera star Simon Estes will share his experiences singing the role of Sarastro in "The Magic Flute" on the world's great opera stages. Estes is an Iowa native and ISU artist-in-residence. The reception and lecture (6:30 p.m.) precede ISU music and theater's collaborative production of "The Magic Flute" at 7:30 p.m. in Fisher Theater.
