Art Walk: Walking in the Footsteps of Jack Trice
Join Lynette Pohlman, director and chief curator, to explore "Breaking the Barriers" a site-specific public work of art by artist Ivan Toth Depeña. The tour will examine behind-the-scenes glimpses in commissioning this heroic-scale sculpture for Iowa State.
Woodshop Orientation with John Burright
Learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment while creating a key rack and shelf. Leave class with knowledge of proper machinery use and, most importantly, woodshop safety. Students may purchase the key rack for $10 after class, or we will use them for our Art Mart fundraiser. The orientation is required to use the woodshop on your own.
Clay Earrings Workshop with Hayley Goddard
Making polymer clay earrings is a snap with the right tricks and tools, and it's lots of fun! There are boundless design ideas like abstract shapes, rainbows, houseplants, pets, and spring flowers, plus the opportunity to experiment with color combinations. Sterling silver wires and/or studs will be provided for up to 4 pairs, and extra are available for purchase that evening.

Textured Floral Painting Workshop with Kristin Erdman

The process of mixing the medium and applying it to your canvas is almost meditative, so this beginner class will be a great stress reliever! Enjoy a stroll through our extensive rose collections before viewing the Iowa Rose Society's annual juried show featuring the best roses in the state. After morning judging, visitors will have the opportunity to see a huge variety of award-winning cut roses differing in form, color and scent.

Wire Earrings Class with Terrie Hoefer
Manipulate brass and copper wire into single-line shapes that can be made into earrings. In the first class, you'll learn to use a wire jig to make monstera leaves, rainbows, or hand shapes. Bring your own ideas the second week to outlining in wire, and leave class with four pairs of earrings and the know-how to make more on your own.

Choose an illustration of a luna moth or honey bee by Hello Hoop artist Catia. The stitches are designed to be monochromatic, but the color palette is up to the one that holds the needle! Three-Tiered Rolling Shelves Woodshop Class w/John Burright
Construct a handy rolling stand that could be used as storage for your art supplies, to display your growing houseplant collection, or as a dandy bar cart to impress your guests. Finished shelves will be about 2.5 feet tall and 3 feet wide with three shelves measuring 9, 13, & 18 inches deep (top to bottom).
