Documentary and discussion: Black American Gothic
"Black American Gothic" is a documentary film about urban migration from Chicago to Iowa City. Independent filmmaker Carla Wilson tells the story through the experience of Iowa City residents, old and new, and looks specifically at how changing demographics in the community have affected low-income housing, public schools, and law enforcement. A discussion will follow the 50-min film. Part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Series.

"Working Over Wood" Artist Studio Open House
Every Friday, artist Jennifer Drinkwater will set up her studio in the ground floor gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum - Room 0003. She invites the public to visit with her, participate, and develop a dialog about her current project to reinterpret and recompose the Grant Wood mural for Parks Library "When Tillage Begins, Other Arts Follow."

Iowa State Leadership Experience (ISLE)
A student leadership program to help new and existing leaders on campus improve their leadership skills, learn about leadership opportunities at Iowa State, and network with other leaders from across campus.
Ames Laboratory/Iowa State University High School Science Bowl
Forty Iowa high school teams will compete in this regional event. The winning team receives a paid trip to the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., in May.

Design Across Boundaries will host this design charrette to generate ideas for the Habitat for Humanity "Sustainable Home" student competition sponsored by H4H and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. Lunch will be provided! Students from all disciplines are invited to participate, and you can continue working on your designs throughout the semester if interested.
