Workshop: Free Access to Research Online
"Can I Read That? Free Access to Research Online," a collaborative workshop offered by the University Library and Ames Public Library. It will focus on ways the Ames community can freely access data and research articles for information about medical procedures, agriculture and more though open access publications.
Homecoming: CyFactor Talent Competition

Registration begins for Juniors - Spring 2019
First day of assigned Spring 2019 registration dates for students projected as juniors. Hours for AccessPlus registration are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday--Saturday, and most Sundays.
Conference: Taking the Road Less Traveled
A one-day conference for middle school (Oct. 25) and high school (Nov. 8) girls to learn about STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields and how to infuse their passions within a career. Participants will attend interactive sessions to explore STEM opportunities, hear from professionals and WiSE student speakers, and eat lunch with undergraduate STEM students. Preregistration required.
Town Hall: Improved service delivery models
Have questions or concerns about the proposed service delivery models developed for finance and human resources? Learn more from Pam Cain, interim senior vice president for finance, and Kristi Darr, interim vice president for university human resources. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and share feedback. The session also will be livestreamed.

Iowa State will be hosting the 2018 Big 12 Cross Country Championship at the ISU Cross Country Course. Admission is free, with the women's 6K starting at 10 a.m. and the men's 8K going off at 11 a.m.

Research workshop: Navigating Your Research with Human Subjects: The IRB Submission Process - Part 2
This is the second session in a four-part series that looks more closely at the components of the IRB submission process. We'll lead a discussion of risk in human subjects research and approaches for minimizing risk. We'll also talk about participant confidentiality, as well as data security measures.
