Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a garden at Reiman Gardens. We are going to grow huge vegetables like giant pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult. $2 for members. $6 for the general public. Iowa State University students pay 15% off member price.

For the sixth year, Ames will participate in the 11 Days of Global Unity, a program launched in 2004 as a promotion of peace, justice and environmental sustainability. It seeks to inspire, inform and involve humanity in helping to create a world that works for all.
Paint Your Own Pottery: Peace Vessels for Global Unity
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. Participate in 11 Days of Global Unity by making a peace medallion, ornament, box, bank or vase. We will have samples for inspiration but your own ideas are always welcome too. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.
Understanding the Mind and Brain
"Understanding the Mind and Brain," George Pollak. Pollak is a professor of neurobiology at the University of Texas, where he studies how the brain controls behavior, specifically, how our auditory systems process sound and the location of its source. He often uses bats as experimental subjects due to their high reliance on hearing.
A New American Space Plan: Rocket City Rednecks' Travis Taylor
Travis Taylor is the leader of the Rocket City Rednecks, a National Geographic Channel series that follows five guys from Huntsville, Ala. - home to NASA's Marshall Flight Center and the birthplace of the U.S. space programs. The Rednecks are in fact rocket scientists with PhDs, and their weekend experiments combine a little hillbilly ingenuity with advanced engineering and physics to tackle real-world scenarios. "Create Peace" for 11 Days of Global Unity

Tai Chi Class
Learn the Yang Style Short Form as developed by Cheng Man Ching. The fun, easy-to-learn movements of The Form refresh the spirit and help improve balance, posture, flexibility, confidence, circulation, and overall health and well-being. Students will also learn a few Baqua and Chi Kung health exercises. This is a beginner level class appropriate for college students to seniors and everyone in between.
Yarn Dyeing Class
Learn the basics of acid dyeing your own yarn for knitting, crocheting or weaving projects! Participants will be able to choose two skeins of lace (880 yards), fingering (sock) (462 yards), or worsted weight yarn (220 yards). Students can dye both skeins the same for a larger project or dye two unique skeins. Additional yarn will be available for purchase at the time of the class. Wear old clothes; gloves and aprons will be available.

Argentine Tango
This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4 - 5pm moves for beginners are introduced with a different figure each week along with techniques for dancing better.
