Workshop: Reference Searching
"Get X-Cited About Cited Reference Searching," with ISU librarians Jeff Kushkowski and Lorrie Pellack. This workshop will cover all disciplines but the presentation, hands-on practice, and discussions will focus on the subject areas suggested by the attendees. Kiel Moe, a registered architect and an assistant professor of architectural technology at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, will address the formation of energy in contemporary architecture, using a design-build project in central Colorado as the primary case study. Experimenting with Watercolors
While the outdoor gardens are sleeping, let's experiment with watercolor, pouring inks, dyes, pastels and all kinds of texture making. See what will be revealed and add a little realism if you wish, bringing out the essence of your story. Participants will get to showcase their art in an exhibition Saturday, March 10. Hydraulic Fracturing: Potential Impacts on Drinking Water
Stephen Osborn is a hydrogeologist with an expertise in natural gas geochemistry and water quality issues specific to hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. He was the lead author on a recent study at Duke University that shows methane contamination of drinking water associated with shale-gas extraction. National Affairs Series.

"Working Over Wood" Artist Studio Open House
Every Friday, artist Jennifer Drinkwater will set up her studio in the ground floor gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum - Room 0003. She invites the public to visit with her, participate, and develop a dialog about her current project to reinterpret and recompose the Grant Wood mural for Parks Library "When Tillage Begins, Other Arts Follow".

Varieties Finals
Varieties has been showcasing the talent of Iowa State students for more than 80 years. Performances consist of 18-20 minute "mini-musicals" that are performed with original lyrics and choreography. Shorter acts, called vignettes, perform as well. A vignette consists of any talent that a student may have, from belly dancing to stand-up comedy. In this way, Varieties serves as Iowa State University's student talent show!
Winter Wine Fest
Sample and purchase wines from some of Iowa's best wineries. There will be lots of delicious Iowa snacks available for sampling and purchase. Listen to festive music, perfect for a winter's Friday evening. This is an adult event only, and you must be 21 years old or older to attend.

Atticus Finch, a lawyer who is a widower, tries to raise his two young children to have a code of honorable behavior within the social fabric of a small town in Alabama in the mid-1930's. When a young black man is unfairly accused of accosting a white woman and Atticus serves as his lawyer, serious issues of racial inequality violently surface within the community. Winner of a Pulitzer Prize.
