Mini-Forest Revolution: Using the Miyawaki Method to Rapidly Rewild Our Communities
Alumna Hannah Lewis, author of "Mini-Forest Revolution: Using the Miyawaki Method to Rapidly Rewild the World," will give the 2023 Shivvers Memorial Lecture. Her book promotes an international, "doable" movement to restore biodiversity by transforming empty lots, backyards and degraded land into mini forests.

Drop-In Craft: Beaded Felt Bowls
Make a cute and handy little bowl. Choose a thick felt circle with pre-made holes in a color you like, along with a handful of large beads. You will stitch the beads into the felt and cinch it at the end with strong thread and a sturdy needle. This is a fun project that is perfect for all ages and skill sets.

Xiaoxing Xi is the Laura H. Carnell Professor of Physics at Temple University. Prior to joining Temple in 2009, he was a Professor of Physics and Materials Science and Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. Frederick Douglass Patterson's America: Reimagining a Democracy
The College of Veterinary Medicine is celebrating the centennial of the graduation of Dr. Frederick Douglass Patterson, who was the fourth Black graduate of the veterinary college. Dr. Patterson became president of Tuskegee Institute where he established its College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Engineering, and the aviation program that later developed into the Tuskegee Airmen. He also founded the United Negro College Fund.
