Meetz is an assistant scientist II in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (department of veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine). He is retiring June 30.
Acrylic Painting with Nancy Thompson
Learn techniques such as monochromatic painting, glazing, and full color application from a professional artist. Thompson has a MFA in Integrated Arts and is a great instructor for beginners as well as experienced painters. Students will share supplies.
Black and White Photography with Dan Neubauer
An introduction to all aspects of the photographic medium, from camera use and exposure control to basic darkroom procedures for the beginner. Part of two class sessions will be spent out of the classroom taking photos. Other time will be spent discussing lighting and composition, developing and printing film, and answering individual questions. Bring your own camera (35 mm SLR) to the first class.

U.S. Biochar Initiative Conference
The U.S. Biochar Initiative Conference is designed to advance our understanding of the science and policy issues related to biochar as both an agent for carbon sequestration as well as an amendment for soils. On June 27-30, join scientists, engineers, policymakers, policy analysts, producers and users at this event and learn of recent advances in biochar science, technology, and policy.
