Opening reception for "Weddings in the Heartland: Apparel, Traditions, Memories"
The exhibit features historic wedding apparel from the Textiles and Clothing Museum in the department of apparel, educational studies and hospitality management. The exhibit runs through April 16.
Realitès: The Lyric Sculpture of William King
William King's lyrical sculptures explore the strengths and weaknesses of the human condition. The elongated and larger-than-life forms often poke fun at the realities of human action and interaction. Nancy Girard, educator, will discuss King's human figure tradition and his installation in the Elizabeth and Byron Anderson Sculpture Garden.

GIS Seminar: Descriptive Modeling of Historic Tree Distribution in Polk and Dallas Counties
"GIS Descriptive Modeling of Historic Trees in Polk and Dallas Counties, Iowa," Paul Anderson, ISU landscape architecture and agronomy, and Jonathan Nelsen, ISU landscape architecture. They have examined the spatial pattern of tree distribution recorded in U.S. General Land office surveys from 1832-1859 and used GIS descriptive modeling to understand the "fire shadow" effect of rivers and associated steep slopes on spatial distribution of trees.
