Horse Race Journalism: Polls, Politics, Policy and Political Advertising
Panelists will examine how story telling, truth meters, fact checks and persuasion techniques frame political issues and candidates' positions. Participants include Matt Strawn, Republican Party of Iowa; Sue Dvorsky, Iowa Democratic Party; Ann Selzer, Selzer & Company opinion research firm; and Mike Glover, The Associated Press.
Panel: Working in Political Journalism and Communication
Iowa's first in the nation status in the presidential nomination process and its grassroots style of political involvement make it a great place to begin a career in political journalism and communication. Panelists will discuss internships and careers in political reporting, public affairs, political organization, public information, political advertising and opportunities for career advancement.

Troxel Hall is a 400-seat classroom facility on the east side of campus that will feature state-of-the-art instructional technology.
Film: Vanishing of the Bees
This film takes a piercing investigative look at the economic, political and ecological implications of the worldwide disappearance of the honeybee, a phenomenon known as "Colony Collapse Disorder." By celebrating the ancient and sacred connection between humans and the honeybee, the film illuminates the greater meaning of the relationship between humankind and Mother Earth.

ISU Alumni Center Gardens Dedication
Begins 4 hours prior to kickoff of the football game. Attend a short program and meet the garden donors, artists, and landscapers. Stroll the gardens and enjoy seeing their features.
Homecoming Cyclone Central
Tailgate begins 3 hours before 2:30 p.m. kickoff and ends 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Buffet meal provided by Valentino's is available for $12 for members, $17 for non-members, and $10 for children age 12 and younger. Must pre-register for meal. Merchandise available for purchase.

Iowa City Glass from the Quester Collection
The Iowa City Flint Glass Manufacturing Company was incorporated in Iowa City in 1880. The company made pressed glass from local materials for a brief time from 1881-1882. Due to the short production schedule, Iowa City glass is rare and admired by collectors. Join Keith Hemmingway, a descendant of the company's original investor, for a discussion of the various glass patterns and pieces manufactured by the company.
