Patel is a consultant and chair of the Division of Clinical Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic, with a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine. She's also co-director of the Clinical Bacteriology Laboratory and director of the Infectious Diseases Research Laboratory.
