Iowa Water Conference
"Pulling It All Together: Policy, Programs and Practices" is the theme for the 2010 Iowa Water Conference. The goal is to offer a conference that provides networking and collaboration opportunities for major water initiatives in Iowa and to provide an opportunity for water professionals and the public to communicate.
Tuesday Tea
Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation. Mark your calendar from 12:00 - 1:00 pm Tuesdays this month and enjoy the Farm House in a whole new way. After tea, all are welcome to join a guided tour that will highlight different topics each week, this weeks topic is "19th Century Fashion". Reservations not required.
CESMEE Seminar: "Creating Teacher Scientists"
Dr. Adah Leshem-Ackerman, pre-college education director, NSF Engineering Research Center for Biorenewable Chemicals (CBiRC) and ISU Plant Genomics Outreach Program, will present, "Creating Teacher Scientists."
Meeting: Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State University and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public and adjourn at 5 p.m.
Lecture: The Mathematics of Financial Derivatives and the Wall Street Crisis
Financial derivatives are contracts whose values are derived from the values of assets such as stocks. The derivative market grew into a massive bubble from about $100 trillion to $516 trillion between 2002 and 2007. "The Mathematics of Financial Derivatives and the Wall Street Crisis," Roselyn Williams. The mathematical theory of simple financial derivatives and look at the relationship between the derivative market and the stock market.
Lecture: The Crisis in American Foreign Policy
Seymour Hersh is an investigative journalist, author, and regular contributor to the New Yorker on topics of U.S. military operations and national security. In 2004, he broke the story of the U.S. miltary's mistreatment of detainees at Abu Ghraib prison.
