To mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Christie Vilsack, Iowa's former first lady, will plant a tree at Iowa State University's Reiman Gardens on Thursday, April 22.

Integrated Studio Arts Senior Portfolio Night
Graduating seniors in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program in Integrated Studio Arts will share their portfolios at two public events. Half the students will present their work on April 22; the rest will present their work on April 29.

"A Walk in the Woods: Different Perspectives to a Common Experience." An artist (C. Arthur Croyle) and a botanist (Lynn Clark) will compare and contrast their experience with observation based research and discovery by sharing their different perspectives to a common experience.

ISU Theatre student produced: "The Pillowman"
With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, "The Pillowman" centers on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.

Franklin is director of cardiac rehabilitation and exercise laboratories at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., and a noted author and scholar in combining exercise physiology with cardiology, heart disease prevention and cardiovascular risk reduction, obesity and metabolism.
