Fall Festival of New Music
On October 15-17 Iowa State University Department of Music and Theatre and the Iowa Composers Forum (ICF) will host a Fall Festival of New Music featuring chamber, electroacoustic, wind ensemble, and choral music by composer members of the ICF from Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas.

Rent-a-Puppy fund-raiser
Sigma Lambda Gamma sorority fund-raiser. If you miss your pets, are looking to adopt a dog or wish you had a dog but can't, come "rent" and play with a shelter dog within a designated area on the South Campanile lawn for a half hour for only $10. All dogs are from a local animal shelter.
Coming Out Rally
The rally provides an opportunity for members of the Iowa State community to share their stories and be visible.
Food Security in an Era of Climate Change
Agricultural scientist M.S. Swaminathan often is recognized as the father of the Green Revolution in India. He is the first recipient of the World Food Prize, in 1987, for spearheading the introduction of high-yielding wheat and rice varieties among farmers of that nation. Part of the Global Agricultural Program Seminar Series and World Affairs Series.
Retirement reception: Dave Arkovich
Arkovich is retiring from the public safety department's parking division on Oct. 12.

Planetarium Show
Planetarium shows will start at 7 pm and 7:45 pm. Free tickets for the shows will be available at the door starting at 6:30 pm. The shows are suitable for all ages, and are followed by a star-gazing session (weather permitting).
Dance social
Free dance social hosted by the ISU Ballroom Dance Club. Singles welcome. Dress is casual, however indoor shoes or socks must be worn in the studio. Check the website for a full schedule.

Iowa State Concert Bands to Perform October 15 at Ames City Auditorium
Lipa Festival Concert
"Listening Around : Listening In" is the theme for the 2010 Lipa Festival of Contemporary Music. Guest composer Elainie Lillios will present music created by placing electronic and natural sounds in Ambisonic sound space, surrounding the audience. Sonja Giles will premier "Among Fireflies" by Dr. Lillios. Other works include "Rainsticks" performed by Matthew Coley, vibraphone and electronics.
