"Memory: Beauty, fragmentation and image," an exhibition of work by Anastasia Whited, candidate for an MFA in Integrated Visual Arts, is on display April 1-30 at Somerset Gallery. An informal reception will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 15 at the gallery. The public is invited to attend.

Raised in rural Iowa, Whited's aesthetic relates to the visual characteristics found there. After losing her grandfather in 2007, she has become preoccupied with showing beauty in the process of aging, loss and remembrance. The displayed photographs, collages and mixed-media assemblages illustrate the culmination of Whited's graduate studies and represent contemplations on her personal history and the complexities of the ephemeral human mind.
