Exhibit opening: Contemplate Japan
Drawn from permanent and loaned collections, this exhibition of Japanese woodblock prints, bamboo baskets, ikebana floral arrangements, kimono, ceramics, and contemporary sculpture explores and illuminates the artistic and cultural developments emanating from Japan for the last two centuries, which greatly influenced the arts in the West.

Reception: Women Impacting ISU Calendar
The 12 women featured in the 2020 calendar will be recognized. A program will begin at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be available. RSVPs are appreciated.
Open forum: Scholarly journals license renewal
The University Library is in license renewal negotiations with the Elsevier, the world's largest publisher of scholarly journals. Iowa State's current agreement with Elsevier expired at the end of 2019, but negotiations will continue in good faith into 2020 with no immediate impact on access.
Walk-in Craft: Fired Ink Art
Create swirls and blurs of vibrant color on glass using alcohol inks and a little bit of fire. We will seal the design and slip it into an 8 x 10 frame for an instant masterpiece!

David Gersten, director of interdisciplinary learning at the Cooper Union and founding director of the Arts Letters & Numbers nonprofit arts and education organization, will speak about his work. He is leading the OPN Masterclass for architecture students Jan. 13-17.
