Father's Day

Film viewing: "Seeds! The Diversity of Wonder"
This 60-minute film showcasing the science and beauty of seeds, was produced by ISU Seed Science Center director Manjit Misra. It debuted in March at the Environmental Film Festival in Washington, D.C.

Junior Master Gardener Program with 4-H
New this year, join 4-H staff at Reiman Gardens for hands-on lessons created through this international youth gardening program.
Leatherwork Bracelet Workshop
Make a set of 2 leather bracelets with Andrew Kingsbury from Decadence Jewelry. Basic techniques will include how to cut and attach snaps to make bracelets fit you perfectly. Add words or patterns using letter and design stamps to make each piece uniquely yours.

Plant Pals
Join us weekly on Tuesdays as our kids' horticulture program covers more diverse topics and expands to other areas of the Gardens.
Woodshop Orientation
Learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment while creating a tool carrier. Leave class with knowledge of proper machinery use, and, most importantly, woodshop safety. Students may purchase the toolbox for $6 after class or we will use them for our Art Mart fundraiser. The orientation is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
Wheel Pottery Class
Get your hands dirty and make beautiful things! Start with centering clay and pulling cylinders, the building blocks to throwing on the wheel. Move on to forming bowls, mugs, vases and plates, and learn handle-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their skills.
Floral Design: Stars & Stripes: Vase Arrangements
Work with star-shaped flowers and striped greens for a vase arrangement that's' sure to pop.
Performance: Comedy College All Stars
Alumni of the ISU Honors Comedy College course will perform in a show headlined by comedian and magician Tom Burgoon. Gavin Jerome, instructor of the 2-credit Honors seminar on the art and science of standup comedy, will host the event. Comedy college alumni Tyler Carlson, Michelle Parkison, Matt Jacobson and Jamie Steyer will open the show.

Research workshop: Working with IACUC and IBC Protocols Using a-tune
The Office for Responsible Research, Office of the Attending Veterinarian, and Laboratory Animal Resources are offering software training for researchers who submit IACUC or IBC protocols. Participants will learn how to navigate the new electronic protocol submission system, a-tune. Training topics will include creating and submitting a protocol, and, for animal users of LAR, how to order animals and manage animal records.
Behind the Scenes: Monarch Zone(TM)
Visit with Entomology staff at our Monarch Zone(TM) - a BioTent behind the outdoor greenhouses - to gain some insight into how Reiman Gardens is helping restore pollinator habitat and re-establish monarchs here in Ames.

Research event: Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Lightning Talks and Mixer
The Office of the Vice President for Research is providing an opportunity to connect with faculty and researchers from across campus who may have similar interests in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Attendees will present a 3-minute lightning talk. After all of the attendees have presented, we will break into small groups to continue discussing the different research interests.

Make something fun to add to your next dinner party that will keep your bottle of wine chilled and add to your décor. Use a basic hand-building technique in clay to create a vessel for your vino. We will fire and glaze it for pickup within a couple weeks. When you get home, just pre-chill it in the freezer before your guests arrive - the pottery holds the cold temperature, so no ice is necessary.
