Open house: The SHOP (Students Helping Our Peers)
SHOP is a campus food pantry, launched by students for students, and opening Feb. 1 in 2616 Food Sciences. It was developed this fall by a committee of the Transfer and Major Change Learning Community in the food science and human nutrition department. Bring four cans of food to the open house and receive a free T-shirt.

Workshop: Writing successful grant applications to the Iowa Arts Council
Program officers from the Iowa Arts Council will talk about the various funding opportunities available through this state-funded organization. Registration is required. A light lunch and beverages will be provided.
One-on-one sessions: Iowa Arts Council staff
Program officers from the Iowa Arts Council will meet one-on-one with faculty or staff members to answer questions about technical assistance, project planning and other areas of interest. Opening reception for "Weddings in the Heartland: Apparel, Traditions, Memories"
The exhibit features historic wedding apparel from the Textiles and Clothing Museum in the department of apparel, educational studies and hospitality management. The exhibit runs through April 16.

Exhibition reception: "Intersections, Symbolism and Imagery"
"Intersections, Symbolism and Imagery: Lanzhou Jiaotong University and Iowa State University Exchange Exhibition" opening reception. A formal program will begin at 5:30 p.m. Artwork by faculty from Lanzhou Jiaotong University (LZJTU) in Lanzhou, China, will be on display at the College of Design Jan. 31-Feb. 16.
