"Working Over Wood" Artist Studio Open House
Every Friday, artist Jennifer Drinkwater will set up her studio in the ground floor gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum - Room 0003. She invites the public to visit with her, participate, and develop a dialog about her current project to reinterpret and recompose the Grant Wood mural for Parks Library "When Tillage Begins, Other Arts Follow".

Tuesday Tea at the Farm House Museum
Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation about all things Farm House. Mark your calendar from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm the first Tuesday of every month (Feb. - May) and enjoy the 150 year old structure in a whole new way. University Print Society Valentine Card and T-shirt Sale
The University Print Society will sell handmade cards and T-shirts printed with a valentine theme as a fundraiser for student club members to attend an international professional printmaking conference in New Orleans over spring break. The sale continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14.

ZuZu African Acrobats
The Zuzu Acrobats is a 45 minute show and it features 5 male acrobats from Mombasa Kenya. This show is similar to a show you would see in a nightclub in the coastal region of Kenya and Tanzania. This year the group performed in America's Got Talent! This event is part of Black History Month!

Lecture: Nobel Laureate Dan Shechtman
Dan Shechtman, an Iowa State professor of materials science and engineering and research scientist for the Ames Laboratory, won the 2011 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. The honor was awarded for his discovery of quasicrystals, crystalline materials. He joined Iowa State and the U.S. Department of Energy's Ames Laboratory in 2004. Reception to follow.

Assembled: Metal, Clay, Fiber, Wood & Mixed Media Student Exhibit Reception
Assembled is a juried exhibition showcasing mixed media and three dimensional artworks by Iowa State students. The show is open for any and all Iowa State students to enter. The drop off date for submissions is Sunday, February 5th from 12pm - 3pm. The reception will be held on Tuesday, February 21st at 7pm. There will be a showing of the documentary "Waste Land" following the reception.

Experimenting with Watercolors
While the outdoor gardens are sleeping, let's experiment with watercolor, pouring inks, dyes, pastels and all kinds of texture making. See what will be revealed and add a little realism if you wish, bringing out the essence of your story. Participants will get to showcase their art in an exhibition Saturday, March 10. Ames Laboratory/Iowa State University Middle School Science Bowl
Sixteen Iowa middle school teams will compete in this regional event, one of 45 being held across the country. The competition continues Feb. 25. The winning team receives a paid trip to the U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C.
