Wheel Pottery Class
Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to absolute beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their technique and abilities.
Open Mic Night
Open mic night gives students the chance to show off their talents to their fellow students. Many are musicians, comedians, and poets. So come on out and show us what kind of talents you have.

Artful Yoga
Build strength, endurance, and balance in a yoga class that will leave you feeling relaxed and centered. Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. This free yoga practice is sponsored by the University Museums and Recreation Services.
Woodshop Orientation Class
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.

Grandma Mojo's Moonshine Revival is a student run improv troupe on campus. They perform in the M-Shop on various Wednesdays during the semester. Grandma Mojo's is the best and cheapest date on campus - admission is only $1!

Paint Your Own Pottery: Monsters and Gnomes
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. Pick a figurine to decorate or draw your own creation on a piece of pottery you choose. We will have samples for inspiration but your own ideas are always welcome too. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

Bonsai Show
Iowa enthusiasts will display multiple styles of bonsai including examples of leaning pine trees, tropical material, temperate deciduous trees, group plantings (forests) and trees growing on rocks instead of in pots.

Lecture: Ceramic Tradition/Contemporary Design
Assistant Curator Adrienne Gennett and Head of Integrated Studio Arts and ceramicist Ingrid Lilligren will discuss the objects and ideas behind the exhibition Ceramic Tradition/Contemporary Design. They will explore traditional ceramic techniques developed over thousands of years and how those techniques continue to be used by and inspire contemporary ceramicists working today.

Soap Making - Hot Process Class
Learn soap making from scratch, using a hot-process crock pot method. With this method the "cure time" is greatly reduced. The ability to use finicky fragrances that normally can't be used with a traditional Cold Process method is the trademark of this technique. Lye safety will be emphasized. A messy but fun process so wear old clothing with a long-sleeved shirt. Leave class with about 1.5 pounds of soap.

This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance.

Basketweaving Class
Weave a Market Sampler Basket. This functional basket is made with natural and dyed reed, a 12" notched handle and double, double twining. A fun basket to weave and perfect for carrying your picks from the farmer's market.
Re-Upholstery Class
Fix up an old stool or simple chair and customize it for your space. Dan will work with students on how to deconstruct and then reconstruct your piece including choosing the correct fabric. Note this is a very basic class - no sofas, armchairs, etc.

Jim Suhler (Blues Rock)
Texas-based blues guitarist Jim Suhler has been playing professionally since the 1980's. Well known as the lead guitarist for George Thorogood and The Destroyers, Suhler has often been included in "Top Ten Guitarists" lists of numerous music publications and has performed with notable music icons including Johnny Winter, AC/DC, Buddy Whittington, Billy F. Gibsons, Joe Bonamassa, Elvin Bishop, and Buddy Guy to name a few.
