Welcome Reception for Mary Petersen
Join hosts First Lady of Iowa State University Janet Leath and University Museums Member Virginia Slater for a reception in the Christian Petersen Art Museum welcoming Mary Petersen, daughter of ISU's Christian Petersen and his wife Charlotte. The public is invited to attend, greet Mary, and share their stories of the Petersen family and experiences with Christian Petersen's sculpture. Light refreshments will be served.
Cocktail Table and Tray Class
Impress your guests with a hand-made cocktail table and tray at your next gathering. Using 2 x 4's as the basic building blocks beginner students will gain confidence in using power tools in the woodshop. More experienced students can work with Dan to go beyond the basics on their project. Option to make it bar or lounge height depending on your needs.
Digital Camera Basics Class
Long shots and short shots: everyone wants to take a good photograph. Learn the basics of using your Digital SLR camera including settings, speeds, lighting and composition. Students will explore campus to use their new skills shooting photographs of their favorite sites and share those photographs to discuss technique, composition and design.
PMC Button Pendants
PMC looks and feels like clay, but after firing, it is 99.9% pure silver. Learn to use molding compounds to turn a button into an exquisite pendant. Bring a favorite button, use one of ours, or mix and match.

Artful Yoga
Build strength, endurance, and balance in a yoga class that will leave you feeling relaxed and centered. Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. This free yoga practice is sponsored by the University Museums and Recreation Services.

Sewing: "One Yard Wonder" Bag
A class for beginning sewers who can thread the machine and sew a little but need some direction to practice their skills. Using the book "One Yard Wonders," Judith will lead students through the steps to make the "Bees Knees Pocket Bag." Just bring a yard of 44/45" quilting-weight cotton fabric to class and leave with a great new fall accessory. Sewing machines provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Peace Vessels for Global Unity
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. Participate in 11 Days of Global Unity by making a peace medallion, ornament, box, bank or vase. We will have samples for inspiration but your own ideas are always welcome too. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

Tai Chi Class
Learn the Yang Style Short Form as developed by Cheng Man Ching. The fun, easy-to-learn movements of The Form refresh the spirit and help improve balance, posture, flexibility, confidence, circulation, and overall health and well-being. Students will also learn a few Baqua and Chi Kung health exercises. This is a beginner level class appropriate for college students to seniors and everyone in between.
Yarn Dyeing Class
Learn the basics of acid dyeing your own yarn for knitting, crocheting or weaving projects! Participants will be able to choose two skeins of lace (880 yards), fingering (sock) (462 yards), or worsted weight yarn (220 yards). Students can dye both skeins the same for a larger project or dye two unique skeins. Additional yarn will be available for purchase at the time of the class. Wear old clothes; gloves and aprons will be available.
