Symposium: Contemporary Immigrant Experience in Iowa
"Contemporary Immigrant Experience in Iowa: Opportunities and Obstacles." An interdisciplinary panel of ISU faculty will examine the advantages and difficulties facing recent immigrants in Iowa. Discussion will include social, economic, educational and political conditions and influences.

Lecture: Peter Hedges on Writing and Directing
Peter Hedges, who grew up in West Des Moines and attended Valley High School, is a novelist, screenwriter, and film director. He wrote both the novel and the screenplay What's Eating Gilbert Grape and is the writer-director of Pieces of April and Dan in Real Life. His screenplay for About a Boy was nominated for an Academy Award well as a BAFTA and a Writers Guild of America Award.

VEISHEA Opening Ceremony
VEISHEA 2010 is scheduled for April 12-18. VEISHEA is an annual celebration held at Iowa State each spring, and one of its oldest traditions. It serves as a showcase and display of the Iowa State community with a wide variety of educational and entertainment events.
Virtual Reality Experience
Iowa State University's Virtual Reality Applications Center will be showing off its 3-D technology during its "Virtual Reality Experience." The tour is free and open to the public, but online registration is required.
Late Night with Dr. Drew
Dr. Drew has been helping young adults with relationship, sexuality and drug addiction problems for almost three decades. He is best known as the producer and host of VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Sober House and Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew as well as host of the nationally syndicated radio show "Loveline."
