Belly Dance Practicum with Lisa Rich-McKelvey
This class will be a Hafla format, a.k.a a Dance Party! You won't want to miss this opportunity to practice your moves, expand your dance vocabulary, broaden your creative expression and increase your confidence. One new idea, concept, or movement will be taught each week and then it's your time to shine!
Swing Dance with Sarah Carney
This class will lead you through basic swing dancing so that you'll feel comfortable on the social dance floor and dancing to a variety of swing music. We'll touch on elements of Jitterbug, Charleston and Lindy Hop. Swing is a great social dance and is loads of fun. No partner or experience required!

Basketweaving: Bit of Bread with Jan Smith
Make a bread bowl on an oval shaped, solid, slotted base. Natural, flat reed spokes, accented with colorful, round reed triple twining make a fun basket to do.
Photo Field Trip: Downtown Ames with Luke Healey
Join photographer Luke Healey on a field trip to hone your picture taking abilities and take your photography to a new level. The first class will meet in the Cultural District downtown, where students can shoot and interact with the instructor and classmates. From the depot to Bandshell Park, historic downtown Ames has great photo opportunities. People, green spaces, architecture, transportation, public art and more.
Screenprinting with Dara Poorman
Learn an inexpensive way to create custom t-shirts. Using your own design, learn to make a screen with the photographic emulsion method. Bring in your shirts and print away! This class is required in order to use the Workspace screenprinting equipment on your own.

Intermediate Glass Beads with Rhonda Scott
Take your bead skills to the next level! Etch your beads for a matte finish. Apply pixie dust for a pearl finish. Learn several ways to use fine silver in your beads. Make a simple and beautiful gravity bead. More techniques will be demonstrated if time allows. Completion of beginning class required to register.
Embroidery with Judith Lemish
The basic stitches for embroidery can be used for more than pillow cases and kitchen towels. Tons of designs, from traditional to modern and fun, will be available, or create your own! Students will stitch on a large tote to create a fabulous bag.

Framing is an essential part to finishing any well-crafted artwork. Starting with a few boards, you can create professional grade wooden frames. Designed for people with little or no experience, those with previous woodworking experience are also welcome. Use this as a follow up to the mat cutting class.

Simple dresses made out of pillow cases provide relief and hope for the children of Africa. We will provide the supplies, but can use the hands of volunteers to assist with making the dresses. From cutting fabric and ironing to sewing, there is a place for anyone that has an hour or two to spare. Drop in our community studio to help another community of children in the orphanages of Central Africa.
