Learn how to paint photos with various light sources and capture the images in your camera. Join Mark Stoltenberg for a 4-week class exploring this unique photographic technique that dates back to 1889. Emphasis will be on proper technique, the right tools, and learning how to identify and capture the best subjects.

Youth Program: Plant Pals
Join us and cultivate a real garden at Reiman Gardens. We will learn about and grow lots of vegetables, pumpkins, tomatoes and sunflowers, as well as beautiful flowers. Each session has hands-on activities to interact with all the wonderful plants that we enjoy and eat. Classes are great for kids of all ages to participate in with an adult.

Quilt Show
Reiman Gardens and the Iowa Quilters Guild will be hosting the annual Garden Quilt Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 12-14 at Reiman Gardens. The three-day show will encourage the art of quilting through beautiful displays of garden-themed quilts created by talented Midwesterners as part of a juried show with prizes awarded by central Iowa sponsors.
Workshop: Fabric Design for Pillows
Beloved artists Jo Myers-Walker is back at the Gardens, and she's bringing her joyful expertise in fabric design to the 5th Annual Garden Quilt Show. Pillows add a welcoming feeling and hospitality to any room. The trend has been neutral walls and a splash of color in a pillow that makes a statement about our interests and passions. We will be using acrylic paints on cotton using watercolor washes & techniques. All supplies are provided.

Training: Sentinel Plant Network First Detector
Reiman Gardens' staff will take you through the initial steps to become a certified First Detector, in the ever-increasing effort to detect and diagnose "high-consequence" plant pests and pathogens, such as the emerald ash borer and the Asian long-horned beetle.
