A Day Without Art
On December 1, 1989, loss as a result of HIV/AIDS prompted artists in New York to organize a Day Without Art. Galleries closed their doors or shrouded paintings. Communities across the nation observed the day with silence. And now, years later, AIDS continues to inflict a toll in every community, and we continue to remember on December 1 by shrouding public art on campus. Day Without Art reminds us to vow an end to HIV/AIDS.
