Film: "The Fighting Sullivans"
This is one of the most heart-warming films ever made from the true story of the legend of the Sullivan family from Waterloo, Iowa whose five sons died fighting side by side in World War II. The only ship ever named for more than one person, the U.S.S. The Sullivans was commissioned by the Navy as a posthumous tribute. More than a war movie, this film is a fantastic account of the American spirit. Running time: 110 minutes

Lecture: "Revitalizing Agricultural Research for Global Food Security"
2009 World Food Prize winner Gebisa Ejeta. The Ethiopian native's work to develop sorghum hybrids resistant to drought and the devastating Striga weed (witchweed) increased the production and availability of one of the world's five principal grains and enhanced the food supply of millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa. A reception and student poster display will precede the lecture from 7 to 8 p.m. in the South Ballroom, MU.

Free dance lesson: "Dance for the Health of It"
Two 15-minute dance sessions (noon and 12:15 p.m.) coordinated by the Campus Community Partnership for Health during Homecoming Week (Oct. 13, 14, 15), with a different style of dance each day. ISU student dance clubs also will perform.
Tuesday Tea at the Farm House Museum
Come to the Farm House Museum to enjoy tea and conversation. Mark your calendar from Noon to 1:00 pm each Tuesday this month (Oct. 6th, 13th, 20, 27th) and enjoy the 150 year old structure in a whole new way. After tea, all are welcome to join a guided tour that will highlight different topics each week, including Victorian music and entertainment, women's work through the years, Victorian dining, and more.

Video Podcasting
This class looks at creating a simple video podcast by editing a lecture-type video presentation and adding Powerpoint-style inserts, using superimposed lower third text, inserting computer screen snapshots plus adding titles/credits.
