Cocktail Table and Tray Class
Impress your guests with a hand-made cocktail table and tray at your next gathering. Using 2 x 4's as the basic building blocks beginner students will gain confidence in using power tools in the woodshop. More experienced students can work with Dan to go beyond the basics on their project. Option to make it bar or lounge height depending on your needs.
Food in the Gardens
Join chefs and nutrition experts from across central Iowa as they show you how to make the best healthy dishes from the foods found in your own garden. Sign up for one session or come to all six and get a deal. These classes will spark your imagination as well as your appetite!

Glass Beads Class
Learn the process of sculpting glass rods by heating and melting the glass in the flame of a gas-powered torch. After practice, your lampworking skills will allow you to create pieces with detail and complexity that you can use in jewelry or other decorative ways.
Woodshop Orientation Class
For the beginner who wants to learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment. Proper usage of the machinery will be covered, as well as woodshop safety. This class is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
Drawing Class
Take this opportunity to learn and develop drawing skills, whether you are a beginner who likes to doodle or an artist with experience. Students will be guided through a variety of exercises to enhance your drawing technique including: line, perspective, light and shadow, and composition, while developing hand-eye coordination and confidence.
Floral Design Series
Patriotic Arrangements - Celebrate Independence Day and honor those who served in the US Armed Forces with an elegant arrangement in red, white, and blue. Learn the basics of floral design while creating beautiful arrangements to take home.

Behind the Scenes
This program is perfect for Volunteers! Join staff each month for an interactive, behind the scenes look at Reiman Gardens. Each month's topic features a mini-tour, interesting facts, and the chance to see many things not typically open to the public. Come each month to learn more about Reiman Gardens and its many plants and butterflies. Cost: $10 General Public. Free for members and volunteers with hours in the last two months.
Metalworking Class
Learn the basics of metalsmithing in this class including how to work with different types of metal, how to safely use tools, and techniques such as sawing, drilling, forming, chasing, annealing and riveting. Students will complete one or two projects depending on complexity. Pendants, earrings and bangle bracelets are just a few of the possibilities!
Haiga - Poetry & Painting
Exploring the art of haiga, a style of Japanese painting that often accompanies a haiku poem, this crash combo course will offer two sessions of haiku, and two sessions of brush painting, followed by a garden exhibition. Students will first learn to write and appreciate the beautiful poetic art of haiku with poet Dennis Maulsby, then will push the art form to new levels by discovering various techniques for brush painting with artist and instruct

Paint Your Own Pottery with Sara Merritt
Part of our summer series of weekly Paint Your Own Pottery techniques led by area artists. "Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing way to spend an evening. Transfer a photograph, drawing, or favorite image onto pottery. Commemorate a special day, make a pattern with repeated images, put your grandma's cherry pie recipe on a pie plate...the possibilities are endless. Enhance the images with painting or paint the background.

Workshop: Ready to Run Iowa
"Conquering the Camera: An Interactive Media Training." This workshop includes tips for successful interviews on tough topics, how to look poised and professional on camera, staying on message, public speaking techniques, and strategies for using online and social media tools.
Beginning ballroom dance class
Beginning social ballroom dance lessons, hosted by the ISU Ballroom Dance Club. Class meets on Fridays through July 5, then twice weekly (Thursdays and Fridays) through Aug. 2. No partner required. First lesson is free; fee includes 11 class meetings.
