Dr. William Gallus, Professor of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences, will discuss the many variations that can be found in our skies and how they have inspired creativity in art, in relation to the art of Ellen Wagener.

Lost-wax casting is an age-old sculptural jewelry process. Students will incorporate both hand carved and molded forms that will be cast in brass. Final pieces can be pendants, pins or miniatures.

Try different sculptural techniques in clay with a focus on the figure. Start with the additive process of modeling using an armature. Explore how subtracting clay can assist in creating greater detail. Discover how the human form can be beautifully translated into clay.

Ceramics Workshop: Fluid Form with Lisa Orr
Studio potter Lisa Orr will offer a three-day ceramics workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28. Orr, the owner of Lisa Orr Pottery in Austin, Texas, will demonstrate her unique production process, and those with prior ceramics experience may participate in hands-on activities. Others are welcome to observe and ask questions.
