Artist Talk and Reception: Kristin Nowlin
Artist Kristin Nowlin will lead a talk about her exhibit, "Rebellious Rendezvous," which closes Oct. 6. Nowlin is a native of Ames and is currently an instructor at Kansas State University. She lives and works in her home studio in Manhattan, Kansas.

Majors Fair
More than 100 ISU major and minor degree programs will be represented in one room. The Majors Fair is for any students who are Open Option, undecided, thinking about changing their major, want a second major, or interested in a minor.
Earth Observation Day
This free event celebrates remote sensing and GIS (geographic information system). It starts with a faculty presentation and concludes with a mapathon. Pizza lunch is provided for all who RSVP.
Meeting: Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public.

A community cocktail reception with presentations by six inspiring storytellers -- all women. The format, based on the Japanese PechaKucha style, allows speakers to show 20 slides, each for 20 seconds. The theme is "Women Who Create."

Homecoming: Alumni awards ceremony
The ISU Alumni Association and ISU colleges will present some of their highest honors during the annual honors and awards ceremony. A dessert reception will follow the ceremony.
Homecoming: Happy Hour and Pep Rally
Giveaways, entertainment and family fun. Meals ($5) and a cash bar will be available while supplies last. Stay for the pep rally and Yell Like Hell final performances on the stage in the parking lots.

Philosophy and Religious Studies: Halloween party
Students interested in philosophy and religious studies are invited to meet their peers and faculty members in the philosophy and religious studies department. The pizza party (vegan options available) will feature philosophy- and religious studies-themed Halloween decorations. ISU students who come dressed in an academic-themed costume will receive a prize.
Reception: ReACT exhibition opening
Consider ideas of intergenerational relationships and family in the newest ReACT exhibition, "Connections and Intersections: People, Place and Time," focused on the stages of life and aging. Jennifer Margrett, faculty guest curator and director of the ISU gerontology program, worked with a multi-age panel to select the art and offer initial reactions. Margrett will deliver brief remarks.
