Experimenting with Watercolors
While the outdoor gardens are sleeping, let's experiment with watercolor, pouring inks, dyes, pastels and all kinds of texture making. See what will be revealed and add a little realism if you wish, bringing out the essence of your story. Participants will get to showcase their art in an exhibition Saturday, March 10. All skill levels welcome. Sign up for one class or all nine!

Artist Reception with Terry Allen
Join visual artist and musician Terry Allen for a reception celebrating the new exhibition "Public Art Studies from Notebooks". This exhibition showcases Allen's development of several public art projects throughout the nation including the recently installed "A Public Perception", throughout the new addition to State Gym at ISU. Live music by "Cup of Tea" (rock- and folk-influenced acoustic music).
Improving Eyewitness Evidence and Avoiding Wrongful Convictions
Iowa State psychology professor Gary Wells is internationally recognized for his work on the reliability of eyewitness memory and identification, specifically the mistaken identification of suspected criminals in police lineups and photo spreads. College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Dean's Lecture Series.

"Working Over Wood" Artist Studio Open House
Every Friday, artist Jennifer Drinkwater will set up her studio in the ground floor gallery of the Christian Petersen Art Museum - Room 0003. She invites the public to visit with her, participate, and develop a dialog about her current project to reinterpret and recompose the Grant Wood mural for Parks Library "When Tillage Begins, Other Arts Follow".
Memories of Internment
Grace Amemiya was a nursing student at the University of California, San Francisco, in 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Her education was interrupted when she and her family were detained in internment camps. She will talk about her personal experiences as a former internee. Part of the 2012 Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity, ISCORE.

Non-Profit Protege Program Applications Due
Each Fall semester, the Student Activities Center at Iowa State University sponsors the Non-Profit Protégé Program in conjunction with the United Way of Story County. Undergraduate ISU students have the opportunity to walk in the shoes of an administrator of a local non-profit organization.

ISU Theatre production of "To Kill a Mockingbird"
Atticus Finch, a lawyer who is a widower, tries to raise his two young children to have a code of honorable behavior within the social fabric of a small town in Alabama in the mid-1930's. When a young black man is unfairly accused of accosting a white woman and Atticus serves as his lawyer, serious issues of racial inequality violently surface within the community. Winner of a Pulitzer Prize.
