Creating Design Culture: A Systemic Perspective through Design
Verena Paepcke-Hjeltness, assistant professor of industrial design, will discuss design as a third culture of inquiry alongside the sciences and humanities. She argues that design is prone to be a change maker if considered systematically. Part of the IDRO Friday Research Seminar Series.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Chinese Brush Painting
"Painting" bisque is a fun and relaxing activity that can be done solo or with a group of friends Incorporate Hanzi (Chinese characters) into your design. Samples available to help you find one that represents a word or phrase that is meaningful to you. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.
Walk-In Craft: Origami Cranes
Folded paper cranes symbolize longevity, wisdom and marital bliss. Choose from beautifully printed origami papers and follow the folding instructions to create your own set of three cranes. Keep them as a talisman for yourself, or give them to someone as a small but special gift.
