It's important to make the beauty and educational value of Reiman Gardens as available as possible to all. On the second Wednesday of every month, all guests may visit Reiman Gardens free of charge.
Meeting: Regents' Tuition Task Force
The four-regent task force will receive Iowa State's five-year tuition proposal. The public is welcome. A public listening session will follow (noon-1 p.m.)
Series: Best Practices in Online Course Design
This 3-part series will explore best practices in online course design through the use of the Quality Matters (QM) rubric.
Seminar: Navigating the IRB Submission Process
"Institutional Review Board 101: Navigating the IRB Submission Process." Learn tips on developing and submitting protocols to the IRB. An IRB staff member will walk through key sections of the IRB application and explain what the IRB looks for during the review process. This seminar is beneficial for both new and experienced investigators, including students and faculty. Preregistration is requested, but not required.
Lunch Bunch
Bring a sack lunch and enjoy a free youth story time program by the Ames Public Library at Reiman Gardens. Perfect for kids ages 0 - 5.
Beginner Photography
4-week program beginning Wednesday, August 9, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. Join professional photographer and instructor Mark Stoltenberg for a four-part class covering the basics of photography including equipment (and how to use it), depth of field, aperture, light, composition, finding your subject & "tips and tricks".
Film: Washed Ashore, Art to Save the Sea
The project, based in Bandon, Oregon, involves collecting, washing and sorting plastic that has washed up on Oregon beaches, and repurposing it into art that is awakening the hearts and minds of viewers to the global marine debris crisis. Reiman Gardens is the first botanical garden to exhibit a collection of monumental sculptures made from this debris, and we invite you to a free public viewing of this feature-length film to learn more.
Barrel racing competition
The ISU Rodeo Club hosts a biweekly barrel racing summer series. Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m., spectators are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair; no grandstand seating is available. Contestants of all ages can enter, including youth (18 and younger). Top performers win cash prizes. Additional proceeds from the entry fees support club activities.
