Research workshop: National Science Foundation Proposal Development (Session 1)
In this session you will learn about the recent changes to NSF Policies and Procedures along with NSF-specific requirements, tips, and tricks for proposal development. This training was created with grant coordinators in mind, but would also be useful for investigators and post-docs who intend to seek NSF funding.

Amanda DeGraff, senior analyst and assistant director of institutional research at Iowa State, is one of five finalists named in the search.
Workshop, Peer review and assessment with Canvas, Google and Qualtrics
Led by Lesya Hassall from CELT and Karla Embleton, the session will focus on the best use case scenarios for Canvas Peer Review, a generic peer review Google form and a peer review Qualtrics process to accommodate peer review of student work and behavior.
Faculty workshop: Documenting Your Research Impact and Increasing Visibility
This session will cover introductory impact metrics and sources (including journal impact factors and altmetrics); identifying who is citing your work and creating reports in Web of Science and Scopus; and methods for increasing scholarly visibility such as Google Scholar and ORCiD profiles, Digital Repository @ISU, and open access publishing.
Lecture: Beyond the Building
Amie Shao, principal with MASS Design Group in Boston, will present a series of the firm's projects that expand the architectural practice model by focusing on what architecture does to identify local needs and opportunities, advance the well-being of individuals and communities, amplify regional investment and capture the value of design and its effect on people's lives. The 2019 Curt F. Dale Guest Lecture in Architecture.
Wheel Pottery Class
Get your hands dirty and make beautiful things! Start with centering clay and pulling cylinders, the building blocks to throwing on the wheel. Move on to forming bowls, mugs, vases and plates, and learn handle-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques. Open to beginners as well as those with experience who would like to improve their skills.

Woodshop Orientation
Learn the fundamentals of woodworking equipment while creating a tool carrier. Leave class with knowledge of proper machinery use, and, most importantly, woodshop safety. Students may purchase the toolbox for $6 after class or we will use them for our Art Mart fundraiser. The orientation is required in order to use the woodshop on your own.
