ISU ADVANCE: Looking back and looking forward
"On the Path to Transformation: Looking Back and Looking Forward with ISU ADVANCE." Faculty, staff and administrators are invited to an interactive workshop featuring highlights from the 5-year NSF-funded ISU ADVANCE Institutional Transformation project. Ideas for continuing important initiatives also will be proposed. Lunch will be provided, RSVP to advance@iastate.edu by April 20.
CODAC Spring Art Sale
Annual spring sale of work by students in the integrated studio arts program, sponsored by CODAC (College of Design Art Club). Most items priced in the range of $10 - $100. Some proceeds go to the artists, while the rest help fund club activities.

Nearly Naked Mile
Free entry with donation of one or more items of used clothing to be given to charities. Registration at 8 p.m.; race begins at 9 p.m. Food and drinks provided after the race; T-shirts to participants. Event held, rain or shine.

Memorial Service: Jim Hopson
Hopson, who served as executive director of the ISU alumni association from 1979 to 1999, died of congestive heart failure Jan. 24 in Sun City, Ariz. He was 71. The ceremony will include a program with remembrances of Hopson and his many years of service to Iowa State. The public is welcome.

Garden Inspirations
Artist Beth Van Hoesen, currently on exhibit at the Brunnier Art Museum, chose to create works of art with universal appeal using nature as her inspiration. Betsy Bradshaw Eness, horticulturalist at Reiman Gardens, will discuss the floral prints of Van Hoesen and show the audience living examples of her subject matter.
ISU Choral Masterworks Concert

Kids Story Time
This year we've been hosting Kids Story Time every two weeks, from April to September. If you haven't already attended, please join us. Each session features a theme with two or three books read aloud followed by a related craft or activity. The books, crafts and activities are intended for children ages two to seven years old. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Showcase: New food products
Sample innovative new food products created by FSHN 412 class members. This year's "Dyscovry Foods" include: AnTeaOxidant Delights, Soup-er Sandwich, pecan crinkle cookies, salad bites, Spuds in a Snap, Vera Juice, Mediterranean flatbread/dip and a cornbread-bacon scone with maple glaze and bacon crumbles.
Faculty Senate meeting
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State University and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public and adjourn at 5 p.m.

Retirement reception: Walter Trahanovsky
Walter Trahanovsky, professor in chemistry, began his 47-year career at ISU in 1964. He has mentored more than 95 students, including graduate-level and Ph.D. students and undergraduate researchers. In addition to his research, he has served as one of the principle faculty in the undergraduate organic teaching program.
