A Curatorial Exploration of Beads
Some of the earliest glass objects created throughout the world were beads. The story of glass beads spans thousands of years and the importance of these tiny pieces of glass to many diverse cultures goes far beyond their diminutive size. Join University Museums Assistant Curator, Adrienne Gennett, as she explores how glass beads came to be so significant and influential, using examples from University Museums permanent collection.

ISU ADVANCE workshop
"Effective Teams: Navigating Both Gender and Cultural Diversity" will be led by sociologist and author Kathrin Zippel, Northeastern University, Boston. This workshop will be repeated at 1:15 p.m. today. Registration is requested by March 23.
Art + Issues: Building a Campus Community
The University Museums exist to celebrate the diversity of our cultural heritage and through art teach critical thinking and generate dialogue that helps to build an inclusive campus community. Chicago-based composer, sound designer, radio and visual artist Eric Leonardson will talk about several ongoing projects that intersected via "Eco-Sensing and Soundscape," a studio course he taught in fall 2015 at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. As a practicing artist and educator, Leonardson is interested in the promise of technology to enable new connections between physical action, sensory perception and ideas.

Lecture: White Bread, Wheat Breeding and the Beauty of Place
Steve Jones is in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and Director of the Bread Lab at Washington State University. His research is directed towards improving wheat varieties (and other crops) for traditional and organic systems that incorporate diverse rotations and systems for small and midsized farms. Farmer participation and expertise is utilized and encouraged in research planning and decision making.

Workshop: Change management
"Navigating Waves of Change." This program is designed to explain the evolution and importance of change management. Participants will be given tips on how to handle change, as well as adjust their attitudes toward the inevitable twists and turns of daily life.
Workshop: Assignments and Gradebook in Canvas

Research Workshop: Submission software training
The Office for Responsible Research will transition to a new electronic system for submission, review, and maintenance of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) applications. The a-tune tick@lab system will go live in early 2018, integrating research, teaching and testing protocols, animal procurement and management, as well as veterinary medical records.
