FIRES (Faculty Initiatives to Recruit and Retain Excellence in STEM) is a faculty working group that seeks to lead and collaborate on externally funded initiatives to increase the number of under-represented minorities and women in all areas, but with a special focus on STEM disciplines. Bring a cup of coffee and join the conversation.
Students will have access to program directors of more than 70 study abroad options offered by the ISU Study Abroad Center, colleges and other providers. The fair is an opportunity for students to get answers to their questions and make comparisons between programs.
The event will feature a DVD presentation of 10 short student/adviser scenarios intended to help advisers improve their advising techniques. A directed discussion will follow each vignette. The summit also will include discussion of student/parent issues and other real-life situations. To attend, register on AccessPlus (once logged in, click on "employee" tab, then "HRS training," and "courses." Select "Ten Advising Techniques.")
Part of the "Iowa in the Global Comm[unity]: Inside/Out" programming series.
