STEM Education Seminar
"Factors that Influence 6th-12th Grade Girls' Interest and Confidence in Science and Mathematics," Carol Heaverlo, outreach program coordinator, ISU Program for Women in Science and Engineering. The presentation will feature the results of a comprehensive assessment of the Taking the Road Less Traveled Career Conference (TRLT) and share what we have learned about the factors that influence 6th-12th grade girls' interest and confidence in STEM.
Afternoon Wheel Pottery with Alice McGary
For beginning level pottery students - those with little or no experience in working with clay. Students will be guided through all aspects of forming bowls, mugs, vases and more on the pottery wheel. Learn hand-pulling, glazing and finishing techniques.
Lecture: Ugandan Children of War
Photographer Mary Chind and Dr. Neil Mandsager will discuss their visit to Uganda with ChildVoice International. The organization works to rehabilitate children traumatized by war, including former child soldiers, children orphaned by war, and those left destitute by rebel activity. The talk accompanies the Mary Chind's photography exhibit, Silent No More: Ugandan Children of War.
