Try one of the hottest trends in jewelry! Shrinky Dink jewelry is lightweight, inexpensive, colorful and fun. Experiment with two types of shrink plastic, sample different materials that can be used to color the plastic, and learn about recycling plastic from the grocery store. So many possibilities--come and play!

Photoshop Class
Explore the basic tools of Photoshop. This class will be a slowly paced, step-by-step, follow-along class for the raw beginner. Get a handle on the basic functionality of this complicated program including: layers, cropping, filters, brushes, text and shapes. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop with Photoshop CS3 or higher. Otherwise, you are welcome to sit in and take notes.
Intermediate Metal Clay: Natural Agate with Copper Setting Class
Create a stunning pendant that features a natural agate set in copper. Learn to calculate shrinkage and design a metal clay setting with a bezel and prongs. Learn which natural stones can be fired in a kiln and which stones must be set after firing. If you have already taken a metal clay class, you are ready for this project.

ArtWalk: Harl Commons
Join University Museums for a tour of the newly completed Harl Commons in Curtiss Hall. Enjoy an introduction to the Art on Campus by Corinne Ulmann and Julie Chang. Meet your guide in the Harl Commons on the ground floor of Curtiss Hall.
Artful Yoga
Build strength, endurance, and balance in a yoga class that will leave you feeling relaxed and centered. Behind all of those sore muscles you may find patience, peace, and a stronger mind/body connection. No yoga experience is necessary, but please bring your own mat. This free yoga practice is sponsored by the University Museums and Recreation Services.
Oil Painting Class
Through this class, students will become comfortable using oil paint, and gain confidence in color mixing, composition, and paint application. It is meant for both beginners who have never painted before and more experienced painters who would like to try a new perspective and get a chance to paint with others. Students will share supplies.

Silk Painting Class
Use resist and dye to create beautiful images on a silk scarf. This is an art form that is fun for artists of any skill level. Learn effects such as water-blending, heat-setting, and salting the dye to create color bursts.

Paint Your Own Pottery: Skulls
Join us for a fun exploration of techniques in "painting" bisque. Choose a decorative skull or a skull mug or box. Decorate for Halloween or Day of the Dead. We will have samples for inspiration but your own ideas are always welcome too. Studio fee is $4 for ISU and $5 for public to attend plus the cost of the bisque you select.

Little Free Library Workshop
Little Libraries are popping up all over, including a few in Ames. The Libraries look like small houses and are usually mounted on a pole. Inside are free books that anyone can stop by to pick up. Being a steward of the little library includes providing a spot for the library (your front yard is fine!), and making sure books are available.
Pottery Glazing Workshop
Focus on the proper preparation and application of glazes on bisque ware. Easy methods for enhancing the surface decoration of pottery using such techniques as slips, wax resist, underglazes and overglazes will be demonstrated. This workshop will be helpful to first time glazers as well as those with experience who would like to improve their results.
