Kevin Nordmeyer, a principal with BNIM's Des Moines office, will present the BNIM Regenerative Design Challenge, a new funding opportunity for Iowa State faculty and staff that supports multidisciplinary research in areas of sustainability and regenerative design.

Stone Mandalas Walk-in Craft

Mandalas are created with geometric shapes and curvilinear lines, and often incorporate ancient spiritual symbols that are significant in Hinduism and Buddhism. Stop by The Workspace to make a painted stone mandala, and keep it as a talisman for yourself, or give it to someone as a small but special gift.

War, the Refugee Crisis, and the Global Response

More than 65 million people are displaced from their homes as a result of wars, persecution, or severe economic difficulties. Figuring out how to respond to this many displaced people and the problems that forced them from their homes is a daunting task. Join Nell Gabiam, associate professor in World Languages and Cultures and Political Science, in the exhibition Unpacked: Refugee Baggage to discuss the response to this global crisis.

Inspired by the life and work of surrealist painter Rene Magritte, the play by Barry Kornhauser follows a young boy who wants to be an artist. Though his desire is dismissed by his father as "a pipe dream," he is encouraged by his mother and begins a quest into the delightfully absurd magic-realism of Magritte's famous paintings.
