Opening Night Tailgate for "Hometown Teams" Exhibit
Join us in downtown Ames for the opening night of the Smithsonian Institute Traveling Exhibit, "Hometown Teams" The Hometown Teams exhibit captures the stories that unfold on neighborhood fields and courts, and the underdog heroics, larger-than-life legends, fierce rivalries and gut-wrenching defeats. For more than 100 years, sports have reflected the trials and triumphs of the American experience and helped shape the national character.

Students will be available to display current works and talk to the public about what they are learning.
Crafts and Draughts
Crafts & Draughts in Campustown will feature crafting projects led by volunteers from The Workspace. Crafts are designed to be fun and easy for everyone. There will also be live music, food from Campustown vendors and of course - local craft brews. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a laid-back afternoon in Campustown.

More Than Just a Game, Discrimination in Sports in Iowa
Iowa's athletes have long impacted their teams, communities and sports they played, but African Americans did so while facing off against more than just the opposing team. They fought for the right to equal treatment on and off the field. Highlighting people such as Iowan and Olympian Thomas Hill, Drake University athlete Johnny Bright and his effect on the football helmet, and members of the Buxton Wonders, Iowa's Negro Leagues team.

Cyclone Central Tailgate
Cyclones everywhere are invited to celebrate at the ISU Alumni Center before every home football game. Enjoy giveaways, shopping, refreshments, marching band performances, Cy and spirit squad appearances, and entertainment for all ages. Doors open 3 hours prior to kick-off and end 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Catered meal available for an additional charge.

It is designed to get students more involved on campus and develop Iowa State pride. The final skit is judged on enthusiasm, creativity and school spirit. Each skit represents the theme of Homecoming 2018, "This Is State" and the Iowa State Fight Song.

Competition: Three-Minute Thesis prelims
The Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition helps students develop communication skills, allows them to share and take pride in their work, and offers the chance to compete for prizes. The ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex research to non-specialist audiences is a vital skill for all graduate students.

Homecoming: Alumni awards ceremony
The ISU Alumni Association, colleges and Memorial Union will present some of their highest honors during the 87th annual honors and awards ceremony. A dessert reception will follow the ceremony.
Homecoming: Happy Hour
Participate in the CYlent auction scholarship fundraiser, shop for Cyclone apparel and souvenirs from the ISU Book Store, get a souvenir glass while supplies last, and enjoy activities for the kids -- including a bounce house, face-painting, and a photo booth. Complimentary light snacks and a cash bar will be available.
Homecoming: Pep Rally
Enjoy giveaways and a pap rally featuring ISU coaches, student-athletes and performances by the Yell Like Hell finalists and CyFactor talent award winners. Homecoming lawn displays, a tradition since 1912, and parade floats will be on display. Watch 10-minute skits and vote for your favorite parade float.
