This workshop will share simple but effective negotiation skills participants can use in their professional and personal lives to persuade, enrich and maximize their potential. Negotiation and conflict resolution don't have to be "avoidable" aspects of our lives. Light refreshments will be served. Registration requested.
Liz Kurt, program coordinator in ISU Extension & Outreach's conference planning and management department, and former director of new student programs, is retiring after 28 years of service at Iowa State. No formal program is planned.

Students will learn how to format international experiences on a resume and incorporate study abroad into behavioral-based interview questions. The workshop is applicable to students who participated in a faculty-led travel course or semester-long/exchange program, or any student interested in studying abroad. RSVP by Nov. 6.

This important ceremony honors our Iowa State students who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for the freedoms we enjoy. Their names are carved into the limestone walls of Gold Star Hall in the Memorial Union so that we may both remember and honor their service to our country, which merits our deep respect.

Interim vice president for human resources Kristi Darr will talk about the refined HR model and descriptions of jobs in the proposed model including responsibilities and qualifications, and offer further information on the responsibilities that will remain within units and the transition process for employees and units.
The Faculty Senate represents the general faculty of Iowa State and participates in shared governance of the University with the administration. Senate meetings are open to the public.
Joyce Russell, statehouse correspondent and producer, is retiring after 30 years of service to WOI Radio and Iowa Public Radio. A program will begin at 5 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring a story to share or send comments to be included in a gift. No RSVP is required for the event. Free parking is available behind the building.

The search committee for the next dean of the College of Engineering will host two open forums to solicit input from university community members on characteristics they would like to see in the college's next leader. The second session is Dec. 3.
An introduction for lecturers, clinical and adjunct faculty to university resources, policies and programs that can help them to a successful start. Associate provost for faculty Dawn Bratsch-Prince also will discuss career paths and opportunities for development at Iowa State.
