Opera: Street Scene
Youthful desire, forbidden love, and brutal vengeance simmer to an explosion in the diverse melting pot of a 1940s New York City tenement. As the heat of the day builds, a family is pushed to an eruption that changes the community forever. Soaring operatic arias and duets rub shoulders with jazz and the jitterbug. Contains adult content and language.
Argentine Tango Lessons
Valerie Williams This Milonga (dance party) is a multi-level class with lots of time to enjoy the music and dance. From 4-5pm, moves for beginners are introduced with different partners for practice. From 5-7pm, the floor is yours for dancing under the guidance of Valerie, and for working with different partners. An intermediate level figure will also be introduced during this time.
Songwriter Showcase: Strong Like Bear
An Ames-based band that plays across the state and beyond, Strong Like Bear writes melodic songs that show off vocal harmonies and collective musicianship. The band has recorded numerous EPs, singles and albums, including a Christmas concept album and their recent foray into stoner rock. For their Goldfinch Room performance, the band is returning to their roots as an acoustic band and original music.
Cyclone Cinema: Jungle Cruise
Dr. Lily Houghton enlists the aid of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff to take her down the Amazon in his ramshackle boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal -- a discovery that will change the future of medicine.
Concert: Ames Piano Quartet
A performance of works by Beethoven, Schumann and Dvorak. The Ames Piano Quartet features Iowa State's Dr. Borivoj Martinic-Jercic, Mr. George Work, and Dr. Mei Hsuan Huang.

Jazz Night: The Nutcracker Suite
Jazz ONE will perform the famous "Nutcracker Suite" through the lens of two jazz luminaries, Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. The music performed will be a direct transcription of the original album from 1960 -- same notes, same rhythms, same spirit. Olivia Helton, concertmaster of the ISU Symphony Orchestra, will narrate the concert. Seating is limited.
