Founded by Masa Ogawa in 1993 in Nara, 'the land of Yamato' (said to be the birthplace of Japanese culture), Yamato travels all over the world with Japan's traditional Wadaiko drums, whose sound stirs the hearts of people everywhere. Yamato puts its very souls into the unusual instruments and its performances are infused with the idea that the drumbeat, like the heartbeat, is the very pulse of life.

With a time-honored name and an explosive, original sound, Yamato Drummers of Japan honor the centuries-old importance of percussion in festivals and cultural traditions throughout Japan with the their latest production, "Matsuri - Fiesta."

Young, hip and brimming with infectious energy, the dynamic men and women of Yamato offer an exhilarating display of expertise and athleticism. In a musical spectacle, Yamato's performers display their breathtaking expertise on over 20 drums and combine their sound with exquisite bronze cymbals, vocals and bamboo flutes, creating a kaleidoscope of sound.

See it, hear it, feel it - Yamato!
