Peter Martin, professor in human development and family studies, and graduate students Mindy Heinz and Laura Temple will share preliminary results from a study of very old adults, their optimal ways of adaptation, and exceptional survivorship skills, at a gerontology program colloquium on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m., in the Gold Room, Memorial Union.

The Exceptional Longevity Initiative has three main objectives: to strengthen research activities that promote and enhance exceptional longevity, particularly in rural areas; to study cognitive functioning, activities, and mental health among very old adults, and to explore opportunities to enhance the living environment of older adults through smart-home technology.
